The Gyronimo Performance Pad for the Diamond DA42 New Generation represents a sophisticated tool designed to assist pilots and flight planners in assessing mass, balance, and performance metrics. Its compatibility extends specifically to the Diamond DA42, with an allowance for a maximum gross weight of 1900kg as specified by the RFM from 2009, featuring the Austro E4B engine rated at 123.5 kW at 2300 RPM.

It should be noted that while the maximum gross weight can be set to 1999kg as an alternative, this adjustment is restricted to weight and balance calculations; performance computations are accurately based on data up to 1900kg only.

The application utilizes actual figures from the Diamond DA42NG Pilot’s Operating Handbook (POH) to interpolate performance data, enabling quick and precise flight planning—streamlining what traditionally takes several steps into a matter of seconds. Results are presented immediately, with high-resolution graphics optimized for devices such as the iPad 2/3 and iPad Mini.

Key functionalities include adjustable sliders for inputting critical variables, allowing users to experiment with different scenarios rapidly. This feature facilitates the identification of optimal cruise altitudes, takeoff ground roll, landing distances, and climb rates.

The Performance Pad encompasses seven primary pages:

• Mass & Balance Page: Facilitates calculations of Center of Gravity, Moments, Takeoff weight, and Zero Fuel Mass. Convient sliders enable quick input of personnel and baggage weights. Graphical displays—including Moment Envelope, CG envelope, and aircraft axes—assist in verifying weight limits. Users can generate a load manifest or email summaries for documentation purposes.
• Takeoff Page: Computes and displays ground roll and landing distance considering variables such as aircraft mass, pressure altitude derived from takeoff elevation, outside air temperature (OAT), altimeter setting, runway surface conditions, slope, and wind conditions. The integrated Wind Components Computer simplifies assessing headwind or tailwind effects by adjusting a dial for wind direction and speed—automatically updating calculations.
• Climb Page: Calculates time, fuel consumption, and distance during ascent based on differences between takeoff elevation and flight level, wind components, OAT, and altimeter settings. It also provides rate of climb and climb speed data.
• Cruise Page: From POH data, it determines optimal cruise altitude considering trip distance, flight level, engine RPM, temperature, wind conditions, and altimeter setting. The page displays Break Horse Power (% BHP), fuel flow rates, true airspeed, and graphical representations of maximum range with reserves. Fuel management features allow specification of reserve times for contingency planning—showing graphical fuel usage estimates. Fuel efficiency metrics are provided in miles per gallon and liters per 100 km for contextual analysis.
• Landing Page: Similar to the Takeoff Page, it calculates landing distance accounting for wind effects, elevation, and other variables. The Wind Components Computer is available here for quick head/tailwind assessments.
• Load / Save: Supports saving and loading up to five aircraft configurations or scenarios for comparison or repeated use.
• Setup: Offers access to tutorial videos and manuals through an integrated channel for user guidance.

The software is optimized for iPad 2 and iPad 3 devices running iOS7 or later.
